I got the joy of being on the launch team for this book that will release in October and I highly recommend it for everyone Katie shares her heart and experiences and wrestles with questions many of us believers in Christ have wrestled with but do not talk about suffering, pain, loss, and God s goodness in the midst of it Through it all though she shares how God is still close and loving in the hard times and how we must dare to hope Its a very easy read that will suck you in and you won t want [...]

This book continues Katie s journey which publicly began in her first book Kisses from Kate, which doesn t have to be read first In Daring to Hope, Katie is faced with a trial that tests her faith and puts her on a journey that draws her closer to God The book has several stories about people she has ministered to and how through their suffering she grows spiritually I think we can all relate to Katie as we all have doubts, or things don t turn out the way we have planned, or we are suffering, e [...]

I first became aware of this author when I watched her Kisses from Katie book fly off the shelf at the book store I worked at I heard from others about how God had called her to minister to children in Uganda But I had never had the chance to read the book Now fast forward 10 years and an opportunity arises for me to read her current book I jump at the chance to review it and learn about the rest of her story. In Daring to Home this twenty eight year old girl bares her soul she s gut wrenchingly [...]

This book ministered to me, speaking to the depths of my heart I felt such conviction and peace at the same time. When I found out I would be receiving an advanced copy, I made it a point to listen to Kisses from Katie, the book that had introduced the world to Katie Davis s ministry and her burden for the people of Uganda One does not need to read the first, to read Daring to Hope I found that this book reveals a young woman who wrestles with God, questioning why He lets bad things happen Throug [...]

My initial thoughts What a story Make sure you have a box of kleenex because you ll need it but the title is truth for this book and it is full of hope as well In fact some of the times I cried weren t because I was sad but because the story was so moving If you haven t read Kisses from Katie I d highly recommend reading it first so you know the backstory to how she ended up in Uganda and how she came to having all of her beautiful adopted daughters But even if you don t read it first this book [...]

This book was AMAZING Review I absolutely loved Katie Davis first book, Kisses from Katie , and so when I saw that she was writing a new book, I was beyond thrilled And then even MORE beyond thrilled when the opportunity came to review it Yes please I do not read a lot of non fiction But Katie s two books have captivated me fully I have loved them both Daring to Hope was so inspiring, so encouraging, and so challenging I was just deeply moved Each new chapter had me thinking , and I shed many a [...]

Two things I learned while reading this book 1 Far too often I deceive myself into thinking I am hoping in God, but really I m just hoping God will orchestrate the outcome I think is best.2 Courage is having having faith.3 Unless you have the courage to walk into the hard things in your life and others lives you will miss the beauty of God I lied turns out there were three.

    18. Andrea says:
Just beautiful Beautiful and encouraging and visceral and real Though she lives an extraordinary life as a missionary and mother in Uganda, Katie grapples with the ordinary emotions and questions of a Christ follower, like Is God really good when the world is so full of suffering This book is Katie s testimony of how God has been teaching her to trust Him, know Him, and hope in Him.

    19. Diane says:
I was sent an ARC of this book through the publishing company as part of the book s Launch Team Daring to Hope is the second book by Katie Davis Majors Starkly different from her first book, Kisses from Katie which chronicles her call to missions and the beginnings of her non profit, Amazima Daring to Hope continues Majors journey through life and faith dealing with her wrestling with God through expected and unexpected losses and the joy that come at the end of a season of sorrow. She poignantly [...]

I could hardly put this one down I read the first couple chapters as soon as I got it in my hands I loved Kisses from Katie her last book Like Katie, I ve now seen the hard of life and the good of life and the way Jesus is utterly woven into the fabric of both She shares so beautifully of God s goodness in absolutely heart breaking moments as she wrestles to continue hoping for the happy ending She encourages readers by living truth, not just sharing truth Though Katie lives in Africa, her story [...]

    21. Sarah Poling says:
Daring to Hope Finding God s Goodness in the Broken and the Beautiful is a wonderful book that testifies to wrestling with God in a season that no one would hope for, a time of wonder, grief, death, and struggle, and yet a time where God is present, near, seeing and providing all that is needed, so much that this season could be viewed as a gift and a blessing I love the feeble words and stories of Katie Major s daily life parenting 13 girls, helping those who stay with her for a season with med [...]

When people would ask me what my favorite book is, as an avid reader I would struggle greatly with the question, but usually end up responding with Kisses From Katie, this author s first book After reading Daring to Hope, I think it might be my new favorite Katie s first book came at a time in my life where I needed it, and still holds so much wisdom and truth about serving God and His plan in our lives This book also came at a time where I needed it Daring to Hope looks at finding faith and hop [...]

Ah I cried, I smiled, and God used this book for my own heart in so many ways It was so good Continuing Katie s story, this book also shares incredibly important lessons ones that I personally needed to hear This is one of my new favorites.

    24. Cynthia says:
This book is wonderful So hard to put down It reminds us all to step back, leave the busyness that we all fill our day to day lives with Be Still, and wait for God He will show up, He has a plan, and it will be better than anything we can orchestrate or think up ourselves It will be magnificent It may not always be sunshine and roses, but it will always be worth it Take time to read this book It will change your life You will want to share it

    25. DeNae says:
I was fortunate enough to be chosen to read an advance copy of this book before its October release date I wasn t a huge fan of the entirety of her first book, Kisses from Katie, but I also had to read it from the perspective of a very young woman living a life very far from the norm I found it inspiring, but also imbued with an overall feeling of white saviors in Africa I am eager to see if she has matured in her writing or if I will have some of the same issues with this book.I found this book [...]

    26. Sam B says:
This book picks up right after Kisses from Katie A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption ended Although I believe this book could be read as a standalone, to fully grasp Katie s circumstances, it is better to read her previous book first.Katie is such an inspiring woman I LOVED Kisses from Katie, and I loved this book too, but to me they are two very different styles In Daring to Hope, Katie gets even real and vulnerable Showing the readers the good, the bad and the ugly She doesn t shy away [...]

    27. Sarah Elizabeth says:
Y all, this book is heartbreaking and hopeful It is full of deep faith and abundant sacrifical love There is strength, conviction and heart in Katie and her powerful story of ministry and relationship in Uganda I am in love with this book.I received an ARC from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for my review.

    28. Sydney Drinkwater says:
Sometimes I wonder how my reactions to books are reflecting other circumstances simultaneously happening in my life There are an infinite number of factors to consider one s home life, stress at work, personal opinions, you name it If I negatively review a book, is it because I m grumpy about something else in life If I positively review a book, is it because I just happen to be dealing with the particular issues it touched on Sometimes I think too much Regardless of all that, however, this book [...]

    29. Lisa says:
It is tempting in Christian circles to hold up missionaries and other heroes of the faith as prime examples of every spiritual ideal A young woman who moves to Uganda, starts a ministry, and adopts a baker s dozen of daughters could easily be thought of as perfect or at least some kind of holy that is unattainable to the rest of us.But Katie Davis Majors, in her new book Daring to Hope Finding God s Goodness in the Broken and the Beautiful, assures readers that she wrestles with faith and doubt, [...]
